Singaporeans Can Now Enjoy Seamless Travel on Public Transport with Fitbit Pay

Commuters in Singapore with a Fitbit Ionic, Fitbit Versa or Fitbit Charge 3 can now
make secure contactless payments on the go, for their daily commute on buses and trains across the country

SINGAPORE – May 14, 2019 – Fitbit (NYSE: FIT) today announced that Fitbit users in Singapore with a Fitbit Ionic, Fitbit Versa or Fitbit Charge 3 can now use Fitbit Pay on their device to quickly and easily pay for public transport.

The move is part of the Land Transport Authority's SimplyGo initiative, which allows commuters who are Mastercard card holders to simply and efficiently pay for their commute from their wrist without the need to carry a separate transit card, make top-ups upfront or pull out their wallet or phone. Fitbit users can now use select Mastercard debit and credit cards loaded on their Fitbit Pay Wallet to pay for their trip by simply tapping their Fitbit device on the fare reader at an MRT station or while boarding and alighting a bus.

“We are excited that Singaporeans now have the opportunity to make hassle-free contactless payments from their wrists with Fitbit devices that support Fitbit Pay,” said Louis Lye, Regional Director, South East Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan, Fitbit. “Singaporeans have always embraced new technologies that make life simpler and more convenient, and we are glad to be a part of the SimplyGo initiative that takes us one step closer towards a cashless society.”

With OCBC Bank and United Overseas Bank supporting Fitbit Pay in Singapore, Fitbit users now have more choice in how they pay for travel on Singapore’s public transport network. Through a few quick and easy steps Fitbit users can add their Mastercard debit or credit card to their Fitbit Wallet in the Fitbit app on Android or iOS mobile devices; allowing them to user their device wherever contactless payments are accepted.

Fitbit Pay is supported by more than 300 banks and card issuers in 42 countries through American Express, Mastercard and Visa networks. Fitbit Pay transactions use an industry standard tokenization platform for all transactions. User’s card information is never revealed or shared with merchants or Fitbit. Additionally, a PIN is chosen by the user during device set-up for an added layer of protection.
